A routine can drastically improve how you live your life and how you achieve your goals. It's an important part of any successful woman's day and I can personally attest to the benefits of having a daily routine in my life.
As someone who struggled with mental illness, I found that creating a healthy routine was the best way out of the way that I was feeling. At first, I was creating routines for myself that weren't based on my lifestyle. They were based on the lifestyle of the author that wrote the resources I was learning from.
Well, after multiple failed attempts, it didn't work. Why? It was because these routines I was making weren't realistic to my own lifestyle. I needed to make a routine that was for me. One that I know I would stick to. After having that epiphany, I went straight to crafting a plan of what I knew would work for me and expanded on that.
In this post, I'm going to teach you how to do exactly the same! Create a routine that works for you, that you'll actually stick to. Just for you, here is the Routine Rundown!.
In this process, you'll have to ask yourself some questions and it's best to enlist the help of your intuition. This is how you'll know what you really want out of life plus you'll see your priorities a little more clearly. When you're creating a routine, there are three questions you MUST ask yourself.
1. When will you be doing your routine?
Will it be in the morning? Before bed? Think about the kind of every-day routine you’d like to create for yourself.
2. How much time do you have to do your routine?
Do you have 2 hours every morning before work? 1 hour before bed? Think about when you’re going to be doing this routine, at the same time every day
3. What do you really need to do?
Some of my own examples are eating a healthy breakfast in the morning, chores? Get a pen and get out a piece of paper or your journal and make a list.
Create A To-Do List
The Next Step is to make a to-do list. Try to think of how much time it will take to do each task and make a note. List your “need” to-dos from most to least important (taking the time to prioritize now will save you time and confusion later. What would you like to do? Journal? Yoga? Workout? Meditate? Skincare Regime
Here's what to do:
List some things you’d really like to do during your routine, take note of how much time you want to spend on each.
Add up the times of all the activities on you're NEED TO DO list.
Keep in mind how long you've set aside for your whole routine.
Enjoyment and Enrichment For Yourself:
With all the things you have to do in life, it's important that your routine includes stuff you actually like doing. This is what makes you come back to the routine every day. Its the "hook" that makes the routine a habit. If you're having fun, you're more likely to come back and do the routine again.
With the time you have left for your routine, choose an activity (or more) from your WANT TO DO list to fill it up and make it fun! Think of something rewarding for yourself, after a hard workout routine or whatever your routine is related to. Even if it's a self-care routine, you can save the best for the end, as a cherry on top!
Once you have your new routine set, it is important that it’s in writing, preferably where you’ll see it often. Write it down like a schedule for yourself and post it on your wall somewhere you'll see it when you wake up every morning!
The final step is to put your routine to action and keep doing it. If something doesn’t work for you, change it.
Feel free to keep making changes until it flows best for you. You’re in control of your life and the time you have. Use it to live your best life!!!
Let me know what you've added to your new routine and how it works out for you!
